The Mystery of photographing dark purple blue Irises

Image 1, 2 and 4 are of the same blossum, image 3 is the same kind of Iris photographed at the nursery
[Dark Iris scanned on scanner]
1. Iris "Trim the Velvet" scanned on my Epson Perfection scanner. This is a good representative of the depth of color but the bloom appears too blue.

Of course, putting a blossum on the scanner flattens out the flower distorting its form.
[Dark Iris indoor flash] 2. Taken indoors with a flash with my Camedia 2000 Z Camera. Too light and too much pink.
[Dark iris outdoor evening no flash] 3. Taken out doors, no flash with my Camedia 2000 Z Camera. Much too pink. Taken after 7PM June 9, 2005 Baltimore Maryland, in mild shade
[ Dark iris outdoor shade SHQuality] 4. Taken on porch full shade no flash with my Camedia 2000 Z Camera around 4PM in afternoon June 10, 2005. Cloudy sky. The purple of the upper left hand petal is close to the purple as seen by the eye except that the iris as seen by the human eye is a much deeper color - closer in depth to that of the scanned blossum but less blue.
